The interplay between nutrition and the immune system is complex and plays a significant role in averting allergy and can manage autoimmune disorders. Various factors, including overall diet, specific nutrients, and dietary patterns, can influence immune function and disease outcomes. This review highlights the importance of diet diversity in infancy for reducing allergy risk, the impact of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids on the immune response to allergens, the role of fibre in maintaining gut health and preventing immune-related diseases, and the potential effects of vitamin D, selenium, and glutamine on immune function. However, more research is needed to fully understand these interactions and provide evidence-based recommendations.
